Chef Development Day

chef development day

On Wednesday Sep 27th we had our very first Orpea Residences Ireland Chef Development Day attended by over 60 of our Team over the day. The theme for the day being “Driving Quality together”, and the inception for this idea came as part of the ongoing Catering Review Project, with the object being to give all our chefs the opportunity to meet as one and was the starting point to all have a consistent approach to Quality. This was the first ever opportunity for all our Culinary Team to get together and meet each other to share experiences and learn together. The day consisted of a workshop of culinary demos and industry speakers which was held in a test kitchen facility kindly provided by one of our suppliers Sysco Ireland.

During the day, our Teams listened intently to presentations by food safety consultants, dieticians and supply chain professionals. Along with external demos from professional chefs (Danny Silcock from Brakes UK and Audrey Crone from Unilever Ireland), we had the great pleasure also to have some of our own Chefs present to their colleagues on a number of topics. Keith Hyland (TLC Cara Care), Ciaran Hegarty (Brindley Manor) and Margaret Melia (Brookvale Manor) presented to All on a number of topics and the feedback from all attendees was excellent. The engagement and positive energy from everyone was felt on into the evening where the Team were treated to an amazing meal along with entertainment.

Getting all our Catering Teams together was no mean feat and really shows the intent by Orpea Residences Ireland to invest in our Catering Teams. The quality of our food and service integral to our residents daily experience and only by investing in our Team can we strive for continuous improvement.
